Homemade popcorn recipe – ingredients and directions
Homemade popcorn recipe is actually quite simple. This is the basic recipe, but of course you can also try many sweet or savory variations.
Ingredients:
60 g popcorn kernels
3 tbsp sunflower oil
Salt to taste
Directions:
Heat the oil in a thick-bottomed saucepan on medium high heat.
Before you add all the corn kernels, make a quick test with a few kernels. Wait for the popcorn kernels to pop.
Then add the rest of the popcorn kernels and cover the pot. T remove from heat and count 30 seconds.
Return the pot to the heat. The popcorn should begin popping soon. Once the popping starts, gently shake the pan by moving it back and forth over the burner. Try to leave the lid slightly open to release the steam from the popcorn.
When the popping slows to several seconds between pops, remove the pan from the heat, remove the lid, and transfer the popcorn immediately into a wide bowl.
Kitchen Tip:
With this technique, nearly all of the kernels pop. If most of your corn kernels do not pop, it is likely that you have not used enough oil or that you cooked them at very low heat.
