Porsche Cayenne Coupe exchanges capacity for comfort in 2020
Porsche has introduced a new model – the first in its history coupe-crossover Cayenne Coupe and without any doubt, the success of the SUV Porsche Cayenne Coupe will be huge. The successful models of luxury cars like the BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe for 2020 mean that other brands will also enjoy it. However, Porsche is the first manufacturer to unveil the Cayenne Coupe 2020. The coupe-shaped crossover turned out to be, perhaps, more beautiful than its rivals.
The car is built on the basis of the latest generation Porsche Cayenne but differs from it in a new body with a sloping rear part. The coupe flair of the Cayenne gets a more functional look and a new sporty silhouette. At its highest point it is 20 millimeters lower than the normal Cayenne and the windshield is flatter. The body became wider by 18 mm because of the new rear doors and rear wings.
Generally, the exterior is characterized with sharper lines, a completely new rear part, an adaptive rear spoiler, rear seat with two separate seats and two different types of roof – a standard panoramic roof with a 2.16 square meters glass surface in the base version which can be replaced with a carbon fiber element as part of “lightweight sports packages” options. The carbon fiber roof and the other lightweight optimizations reduce the weight of over 1950 kg with about 20 kg.
The rear place for the license plate is integrated into the bumper, which visually reduces the distance between the car and the road. Porsche Cayenne Coupe is the first crossover with an adaptive rear roof spoiler which is part of the Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) system. The company notes that the spoiler extends 135 mm when the car reaches a speed of 90 km/h. Thus, it increases the contact pressure on the rear axle and PAA simultaneously improves efficiency.
Porsche Cayenne Coupe interior and equipment
The interior of Porsche Cayenne Coupe has also changed. Most drivers will not notice the difference. However, you will certainly notice the new back seat, which has a plastic shell. This also separates the left from the right seats, which means that the SUV is now officially a four-seater.
The space for the rear passenger seats is borrowed from the trunk. In e Cayenne Coupe its capacity is 625 liters, against 770 for its predecessor. In the Turbo version, this volume decreases to 600 liters. In addition, due to the 20 mm lower roof, the rear seats in the Porsche Cayenne Coupe are lowered by 30 mm to compensate for the loss of rear headroom. This, however, can be a problem for tall people because not everyone could sit comfortably in the back of the coupe. As a reference, however, there is no problem with the normal Cayenne, but then the passengers sit higher. The standard Porsche is equipped with a 4-seater saloon with separate seats, but a single 3-seat back sofa is available as a free option. The seats are slightly pushed back compared to other versions of the Cayenne. Optionally, the seats have inserts encased in Porsche’s iconic Pepita pattern.
The rest of the Coupe differs only in settings. The level of available equipment Cayenne Coupe is similar to the base Cayenne. It has all the main technical systems of the third-generation Cayenne model – powerful drive systems, innovative chassis systems, digital display and control, haptic-feedback buttons and touchscreen functionality, widescreen display, as well as a whole range of communication and connection functions.
The equipment features sporty options such as the PASM Active Suspension and the Sport Chrono Package as well as 50 cm wheels as standard. However, if you opt for the Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo, you’ll get 53-inch models on all four corners, with the option to switch to a very comfortable 55-inch set.
Porsche Cayenne Coupe performance – combining innovative design with power
Porsche Cayenne Coupe will enter the market in two versions – with a 340-horsepower 3-liter turbo engine and a maximum torque of 450 Nm. The Sport Chrono package provides acceleration from 0 to 100 km/ in 6.0 seconds, and thanks to the optional lightweight sports packages, this figure is reduced to 5.9 seconds. The maximum speed of this car is 243 km/h.
The Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo is the more powerful version and is equipped with a 550-horsepower 4-liter turbocharged V8 and a maximum torque of 768.7488 Nm. Cayenne Turbo Coupe accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reaches a speed of 286 km/h.
All engines are combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive and CO2 emissions are 215 – 212 g/km.
And how much does this beauty cost? The starting price of 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe is US dollars 75300. That is almost USD 10,000 more than a base Cayenne. The price of Coupe Turbo starts at US dollars 130,000 and if you want to have every available option, the figure goes up to a hefty USD 197 985. However, the additional delivery of 1250 US dollars for both models must not be forgotten. In Germany, the price for the base model starts at 83,711 euros and for the Cayenne Coupe Turbo at 146,662 euros.
