reservoir rug dean brown innovative approach in modern design

Have you ever believed that a carpet can cascade like a waterfall? Reservoir Rug by Dean Brown does just that. Presented at this year’s Designer’s Days in Paris this innovative approach in design is inspired by the complexity of textile production.

Designer Dean Brown takes inspiration from flowing water. The concept is inspired by the depth and subtlety of the textile production and expresses the natural potential of a carpet to move in a smooth and graceful manner from the top of a wall to the floor, where it typically belongs. Created for Fabrica, Reservoir Rug is part of the exhibition carpet collection. Young Dean Brown is an industrial designer, known for his commitment in developing objects and furniture that are thoughtful, optimistic and inspired by understanding people. Much of his work has explored the relationship between people and technology.

This rug is one of a kind and is nothing like all those bathrooms mats we are used to see. The blue colour successfully resembles and reminds a water flow. Lovers of original and creative design will appreciate its surrealistic view and the originality of combining nature, texture and a daily item. Another of his other projects is Shrines – a collection of four micro furnitures that are loosely associated with the typologies of a cabinet, a shelf, a vase and a dresser, to venerate the everyday rituals and artifacts of personal significance. Also presented during Paris Design Week 2013 two new pieces called Measurements and Perspective, which are part of the Drawing Glass collection by Fabrica. We surely expect to see lots more exciting ideas in the future.
