With these pressure cooker chicken recipes there is no need to spend time at the stove, monitoring the temperature so that the meal doesn’t burn. The recipes are also a life-saver in case of unexpected guests – you can serve dinner in no time! The market offers different countertop pressure cookers – InstantPot, Ninja, etc. and it doesn’t really matter which one you have. Chicken pressure cooker recipes are universal and can be cooked in any model.

How to Make Whole Chicken in Pressure Cooker?

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp paprkia
  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2/3 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions:

Combine chili powder, paprika, thyme and brown sugar in small dish.

Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. Sprinkle salt and pepper on chicken and then rub in spice blend.

Turn your pressure cooker to sauté mode, normal (medium) setting. Allow to get hot and then add olive oil. Sear both sides of chicken for 4-5 minutes, breasts side first. Then add chicken broth.

Turn off the cooker, then select manual (high) for 25-30. Place the cover and make sure that pressure release knob is in “sealing” position.

Allow for natural release (NR). Then remove chicken from the pressure cooker and allow to set 10 minutes before serving.

You can use the juices to make gravy.

Ingredients:

  • 8 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • For Honey Garlic Sauce:
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • Freshly chopped parsley, for serving

Instructions:

Prepare Honey Garlic Sauce: Heat up Instant Pot using “Saute Normal” function. Wait until the indicator says “HOT”.

Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in Instant Pot. Add in minced garlic, then saute for 45 seconds to 1 minute. Pour in the soy sauce and honey. Stir to reduce and thicken for 2 – 3 minutes.

Mix ketchup with the honey garlic sauce. Taste and adjust salt and pepper, if necessary. Set aside and let it cool to thicken a bit.

Cook the Chicken Thighs:

Season the chicken with salt and pepper.

Add 1 cup of cold water and a trivet in Instant Pot. Place 6 – 8 chicken thighs on the trivet. Make sure not to overlap the chicken thighs too much.

Close lid, then turn Venting Knob to Sealing position.

Pressure Cook at High Pressure for 7-9 minutes + Natural Release for 12 minutes.

Open the lid carefully.

Carefully set the chicken on an oven tray, then generously apply the honey garlic sauce all over the chicken. Broil the chicken thighs in the oven for a few minutes until the honey garlic sauce is beautifully caramelized.

If you have Duo Crisp or Air Fryer Lid, Layer the chicken thighs on the air fryer tray in Instant Pot. Place the air fryer lid on the Instant Pot. Press the “Air Fry or Broil” button, set temperature to 400°F, and cooking time to 20 minutes. It’ll take roughly 7 – 11 minutes + preheat time. You can open the lid to check the progress.

Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Ingredients:

  • 4 – 6 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Instructions:

In a small bowl combine the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper.

Rub the spice mix generously over each chicken breast.

Set the Instant Pot to the Saute setting and add the olive oil to heat. When the olive oil is hot add the chicken breasts and sear on all sides. Remove the chicken from the Instant Pot and set aside.

Pour the chicken broth into the Instant Pot, then place the trivet inside. Place the chicken on top of the trivet and close the Instant Pot lid.

Set the valve to sealing and set the Instant Pot to Manual/High Pressure for 5 minutes. If using frozen chicken breasts, set the Instant Pot to Manual/High Pressure for 10 minutes.

When the time is up, let the Instant Pot release naturally for 10-12 minutes then quick release remaining pressure.

Open the lid and transfer the chicken to a cutting board or serving platter.

Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing it or serving.

Ingredients:

  •  4 large boneless skinless chicken breasts, diced
  •  Freshly ground pepper and salt
  •  1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  •  1/2 cup diced onion
  •  2 cloves garlic, minced
  •  1/2 cup soy sauce
  •  1/4 cup ketchup
  •  2 teaspoons sesame oil
  •  1/2 cup honey
  •  1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  •  2 tablespoons cornstarch
  •  3 tablespoons water
  •  2 green onions, chopped
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions:

Seasons chicken with freshly ground pepper. Preheat pressure cooking pot using the saute setting. Add oil, onion, garlic, and chicken to the pot and saute stirring occasionally until onion is softened, about 3 minutes.

Add soy sauce, ketchup, and red pepper flakes to the pressure cooking pot and stir to combine. Pressure cook on high for 3 minutes. When timer beeps, turn pressure cooker off and do a quick pressure release.

Add sesame oil and honey to the pot and stir to combine. In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in water and add to the pot. Select Saute and simmer until sauce thickens. Stir in green onions. Add salt to taste.

Serve over rice sprinkled with sesame seeds.
