Have you already tried cloud bread? Are you on a keto diet and need to limit carbohydrate intake? Or do you simply avoid gluten for digestive reasons? Here are several recipes that you will love! Due to its light and airy structure, this fashionable appetizer is called cloud bread or oopsie rolls. Numerous recipes for this dish have flooded the Internet. What is the secret of its popularity?

Cloud bread was invented on the basis of the recipe for Revolution Rolls – unleavened buns, created in 1972 by Dr Atkins and consisting of cottage cheese, eggs and cream of tartar. In 2008, cream cheese was included in the recipe instead of cottage cheese and the buns were called Oopsie rolls, “oopsie” meaning that we forgot something (flour!) Later, these gluten free buns became known around the world as “cloud bread”.

Nutritionists classify cloud bread as a healthy food. Despite the absence of flour and sugar in it, it perfectly satisfies a person’s need for carbohydrates. The lack of gluten makes this type of bread ideal for diabetics, everyone who does not digest gluten and people who follow the keto diet.

Another plus of cloudy bread is its size and shape. It looks like a cake or cookies and it is convenient to take it with you for a snack, prepare sandwiches with it or serve it on a festive table.

Why is cloud bread so popular?

The main reason for the enormous popularity is that it is especially suitable for diabetic nutrition and for those who prefer low-calorie foods. The main ingredient of all flour products – flour – is absent in cloud bread. Instead, cream cheese is used as a thickener. Therefore, this bread is a great option for gluten-free and low-carb menus.

Another huge advantage of cloud bread is the simplicity of its composition. The classic version contains 3-4 ingredients. Usually it is made from eggs, low-calorie cream cheese, which can be replaced with low-fat cottage cheese, cream of tartar and a sweetener (honey or sweetener), for dessert variations.

You can add herbs, cheese, cold meat, jam, honey, or anything else that you love.

The easy preparation is another plus. The main thing is to learn how to separate egg whites from the yolks, whip them and mix gently, without losing the air in the mixture.
