*This type of candy is sold in batches, even online, but if you prefer and have the time, you can make your own sugar eyes.
Jalapeno Poppers for Halloween Step by Step
Take the cheese spread out of the fridge, preheat the oven to 350F/180 C and cover a baking sheet with baking paper. Then, cut each chili or pepper in half lengthwise, without removing the stem, and empty its interior of seeds and membranes with a small teaspoon.
Place the cream cheese, grated hard cheese and spices in a medium sized bowl and mix together until combined. Next, fill each jalapeno half with the seasoned cream cheese mixture.
Roll out the dough on the work surface, barely roll it out with the rolling pin and cut it into thin strips widthwise with a sharp knife or pizza cutter. Next, wrap 2 to 3 strips of dough around each jalapeno half, leaving space near the stem for eyes. Arrange the wrapped jalapeno poppers, cut side up, on the prepared baking sheet.
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until smooth and lightly brush the chili halves with a pastry brush. Place in the oven and bake for 13 to 15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown. Let the mummies cool for 5 minutes before decorating them with a pair of sugar eyes. Serve hot or at room temperature and enjoy with friends!
