How to Make These Soft Pretzels?

Preparing them at home may be a pleasing and entertaining experience. Just follow this beer snacks recipe, learning the mastery in making “ropes” from dough, and then forming pretzels!

Main ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of 12 ounces (354 ml) amber or nonalcoholic beer
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 4 1/2 cups (640 g) flour
  • 10 cups (2.4 L) water
  • 2/3 cup (140 g) baking soda

For the topping:

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Coarse salt, or poppy and sesame seeds, optional

How it’s made:

  1. Heat the beer to 110°-115° and remove from the stove.
  2. Stir in yeast until they are dissolved.
  3. Combine the butter, sugar, salt, yeast and 3 cups of the flour.
  4. Beat on medium speed until smooth.
  5. Stir in remaining flour to form a soft dough (sticky).
  6. Turn dough onto a floured surface.
  7. Knead until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  8. Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top.
  9. Let it rise in a warm place until doubled.
  10. Preheat oven to 425° and punch the dough.
  11. Place on a surface and shape 8 balls.
  12. Form each ball into a 24 in (60 cm) rope.
  13. Curve the ends of each rope to form a circle.
  14. Twist ends once and lay over opposite side of circle, pinching ends to seal.
  15. Bring water and baking soda to a boil in an oven.
  16. Drop pretzels into boiling water, and cook 30 seconds.
  17. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  18. Place them on greased baking sheets.
  19. Whisk egg yolk and water and brush over pretzels.
  20. Sprinkle them with coarse salt or seeds if desired.
  21. Bake pretzels until golden brown color.

Can You Preserve Them for All the Week?
