How to make fake snow?
During winter, every child, big or small, dreams of snow and as for the girls, they want to transform their room into the kingdom of Arendelle. In order for you to realize this little fantasy and create a festive atmosphere at home, you have to make fake snow. There are several ways to do it and they are all super easy. So, don’t worry if DIY isn’t your cup of tea. All you need is a bowl!
- 1 pound (450g) baking soda
- 10 ounces (280 g)shaving cream
- White or silver glitter, optional
Yes, you only need these two ingredients! It’s surprising, isn’t it? So, pour the baking soda into a plastic container. Then add a little shaving cream and knead it in the baking soda. Add more shaving cream and glitter (if using), mix and repeat until the mixture is the consistency of snow.
It takes about 10 minutes. Fake snow becomes light and powdery and when mixed it will leave very little residue on your hands. A great plus is its smell and the ingredients which are safe for the little ones.
How to make fake snow from corn starch?
You can also make fake snow by mixing a 1: 1 ratio of baking soda and cornstarch. Start by mixing the two ingredients in equal amounts into a bowl, then mix them well with your fingers.
You need to add just a little water so that you can form a ball. To add an extra touch of magic to this children’s craft, add 2 tbsp. of glitter. It’s not a must-have ingredient for making fake snow, so if you want to keep your hands and clothes from shining, don’t hesitate to leave it out. But we’re sure your kids will be even more excited to make a castle that shines just like real snow.
