On the 3rd Monday of January, every year since 1983 we celebrate MLK Day. This is the first federal holiday of the United States of America that honors an African American, and in 2024 it falls on the 15th of January, which also happens to be his date of birth. On this day, we give our thanks for Martin Luther King Jr.’s life’s mission, which was to advocate for racial equality and justice – an issue that unfortunately remains active to this day.
His legacy deserves to live on, and being passed down to the youngest ones is a great place to start! Download our FREE Martin Luther King Jr. coloring sheets that will help teach kids about the extraordinary mark he left in history in a fun and engaging way!

Who Was MLK?
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (born Michael Luther King) was an activist, a humanitarian, a pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, and a leader of the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He is best known for his mission to advance civil rights through pacifism and nonviolent civil disobedience. He is the only man who is not a President that has his birthday as a national holiday. MLK is also the youngest person to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 35. During the award ceremony, he delivered his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech, which to many people’s disbelief, was completely improvised!
