Cute & Easy Christmas Cookie Decorating Ideas for Beginners
Baking Christmas cookies with my mother is one of the things I most look forward to about my trip back home for the holidays. We usually opt for simple decorative designs, as neither one of us was born with patience or managed to learn some during our lives so far. Let me just say that both of us are Scorpios. Anyhow, I felt personally inspired to write this article and will give you some of the tips and tricks that my mama and I have tried over the years. Here they are!
Simple White Icing Cookie Decorations Recipe
Making white icing for your Christmas cookies from beaten egg whites and sifted icing sugar is very easy and probably the quickest option for decorating! My mother and I usually go with this option most times. Here is what you will need:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup/112 gr powdered sugar
- 1 egg white
- Lemon juice
How to prepare:
Sift the powdered sugar twice. Beat it with a wire whisk or with a mixer and with the egg white. Add 3–4 drops of lemon juice and beat again until you get a thick, homogeneous mixture. Fill a piping bag or regular small plastic bag, and you are ready to create!
Tip: If you add a drop of food coloring to the white icing, you can color the icing (for example green or red, perfect for Christmas).
And lastly, but not least, my mother and I top the white icing cookies with some colorful sprinkles! To make your Christmas cookies even more festive, sprinkle them while the icing is still soft. After, leave them for an hour or two to set well.
