10 Egg Carton Easter Crafts and Handmade Home Decorating Ideas

Egg Carton Easter Crafts – how to make cute chickens

Materials:

• Egg carton
• Yellow paint and black marker
• Yellow and orange card stock
• Scissors
• Glue

Directions:

Cut two egg carton cups.

Glue a piece of paper to each half, acting as a hinge.

Paint the carton with the yellow paint.

Take small pieces of card stock, two yellow and two orange, cut into triangles.

Fix one yellow triangle on each side of the inner bottom egg carton cup. Fix one orange triangle on the front of the inner top and another on the inner bottom egg carton cup.

Cut orange card stock into feet and glue to the bottom cup. Draw small eyes with the black marker.

Fill with candy treats.

Egg Carton Easter Crafts – DIY Bunnies

Materials:

• Egg Carton
• Acrylic paint – pink, yellow, blue
• Scissors
• Googly eyes
• Pink pom poms
• White foam
• Masking tape
• Glue
• Black marker

Directions:

Cut 2 egg compartments and trim off any excess to create a flat top.

Place the trimmed egg cartons on top of each other with the flat tops touching. Take a piece of masking tape and put a small piece on the back of the cartons.

Then open up the egg carton and place another piece of masking tape on the inside.

Paint the egg cartons in a spring color.

Cut 2 bunny ear shapes out of the foam.

Once the paint has dried, add the eyes and pink pom pom for the nose with glue.

Glue on the ears as well.

Take a black marker and add whiskers and eyelashes.

Fill with candy.

DIY Hen egg cups

Materials:

• Egg carton (you can only make 2 chicks from one carton)
• Orange and Red Crafting Paper
• Feathers
• Wiggle Eyes (or black paint)
• Scissors
• Crafting Knife
• Glue

Directions:

Cut out the edge part of the egg carton. Trim the excess around the upper edge.

Take the red paper and cut a comb and an orange beak.

Put a little glue at the bottom of both pieces.

Insert them into slots and either glue on wiggle eyes or draw them with a black marker.

Put a generous amount of glue on the inner side of the back part and glue the feathers.

DIY Mini Egg carton Easter baskets

Materials:

• Egg cartons
• Pipe cleaners
• Easter grass
• watercolors
• Scissors

Directions:

Cut an as many egg compartments as you need and trim off any excess.

Paint the baskets with watercolors and let them dry.

When the baskets are dry, carefully poke two small holes so that the pipe cleaner handle can be pushed through.

If the pipe cleaners are too long, you can decide how high your handle should be.

Finally, place Easter grass in the basket and then fill it with candy or mini eggs.

Egg Carton Easter Crafts – DIY Flower Garden

Materials:

• 18 count or 12 count egg carton
• Colored buttons
• Cardstock – green, pink, purple, red and yellow
• Green Acrylic paint
• Popsicle sticks
• Strong glue

Directions:

Cut off the top of the egg carton.

Paint the egg carton green and let it dry.

Paint the popsicle sticks green. Let them dry.

Draw and cut out flower shapes from the cardstock.

Glue the buttons to the center of some flowers.

Glue the flowers to the top of the popsicle sticks.

Draw some leaves on green cardstock and cut them out. Glue the leaves to each flower.

Use a pencil to poke small holes at the top of each egg carton cone.

Push the flowers into the holes and use some glue to keep them in place.

Materials:

• Colored or plain Egg cartons
• Shredded paper (or Easter grass)
• Variety of Candy
• Printable gift tags
• Twine or ribbons
• Acrylic or watercolor paints

Directions:

If your egg cartons are not colored, you can use acrylic or watercolor paint in spring colors, paint them and let dry.

Add the shredded paper to the egg cartons.

Start filling the egg cartons with candy.

Glue a gift tag on top of the egg cartons.

Tie with twine or ribbon.

Materials:

• Egg carton
• Stationery knife
• Yellow acrylic paint
• Felt fabric in two shades of green – dark and light

Directions:

Cut off the top of the egg carton.

Paint the egg carton with the yellow paint and let it dry completely.

Cut out grass of different colors from felt.

Glue the grass inside each egg compartment, leaving a little space for later decoration.

Glue together the dark and light green remaining grass, as shown in the picture, and cut out felt flowers of different colors. Glue the flowers to the grass pieces and glue the pieces to the egg holder.

DIY Egg carton spring flowers

You can easily craft spring flowers to make a picture on a canvas or arrange in a vase.

Materials:

• cardboard egg cartons
• paint
• glue
• scissors
• paint brush
• canvas or cardstock

Directions:

Cut the sides of each cavity. Trim the sides to make them round. You will need three cups, one with smaller “petals” and two with larger ones.

Cut leaves, stems and a short straight strip from the flat top of the egg carton.

Roll the short straight strip into a spiral.

Paint all the petals into bright spring colors and paint the stem and leaves green.

Glue the coiled circle into the center of the smaller, shorter flower piece

Glue two egg carton cups one on top of the other.

Now glue the small coiled part in the center.

You can leave the rolled spiral as it is or you can color it too.

Glue the flowers on the canvas or on construction paper.

DIY Egg Carton Easter Wreath Ideas

Making an egg carton Easter wreath is a fantastic craft idea.

You will need:

• A foam base
• Egg carton
• Green cardstock or felt
• Acrylic or watercolor paints
• PVA glue
• Scissors

Directions:

Cut out a foam base. Draw a circle and a smaller circle about 2 inches/5 cm inside the larger one. Cut out the ring. Paint green and leave to dry.

Paint the egg cartons in pink, blue, peach and yellow. You will need a few coats to get a vivid, even color. Leave to dry.

Cut different-sized leaves out of green card and felt. Put a generous amount of PVA glue all over the foam ring and stick the leaves on in small clusters so they are hanging over the outer and inner edges.

While the glue is still wet, stick on the egg cartons, alternating colors until the ring is full. Leave to dry overnight.

Glue a pom pom into the center of each egg carton flower. Dot paper butterflies onto a few of the cartons.

Add a ribbon to the back of the wreath for hanging.
