Sometimes you’re trying to look a little bit slimmer or health problems may be the reason you’ve decided to lose some weight. I, myself, have struggled with my weight my whole life. I’ve battled with many health problems, such as anorexia and obesity. Furthermore, I’ve pretty much always gone from one extremity to another. There are, however, times in my life that I have maintained a healthy weight, and I do have some tips and tricks of my own to share with you! So, look at your morning routine. Is there time for a work-out? Yes, of course there is! Even if it’s not heading down to your local gym, there are plenty of YouTube videos and online tutorials that show you how to get your muscles warmed up, your body in action and your mind in the right place for the day ahead.
Word of advice: If you are using milk or yoghurt- always use the lowest calorie!
- 2 Boiled eggs and wholemeal toast (no butter)

- Porridge with 1 banana, chia seeds, flax seeds, spoonful of jam and cinnamon (I can confirm that my dad swears by this breakfast. Not only has he told me this, I’ve seen him eat it his whole life-he also soaks his porridge oats in milk the night before, ready for the morning)

Lunches you could include into your lifestyle just need to have around 500–700 calories, as your evening meal should be the same amount! Check out our suggestions!
- Soups to try – lentil, vegetable, tomato, potato, leek, pumpkin – (brown bread croutons are allowed if necessary)
- Chicken & sweetcorn/grilled chicken and pesto tacos
- Avocado on brown toast with poached egg
- Hummus and veggie sticks with wholemeal bread (1 piece)
- Baked avocado with mushrooms and low fat cheese
Healthy dinner meals to try at home
If you’re anything like me, I love a good pasta or spaghetti dish. The problem is that there are so many hidden calories in those products that you really need to monitor when looking to lose weight. Try and limit your pasta intake to once a week. Brown wheat pasta if also the much healthier option. Boiled potatoes are great in salads. Steamed vegetables are lovely with some fresh fish too. It’s all a matter of meal planning, not leaving it till you’re starving because you won’t want to wait, therefore you’ll probably end up grabbing a quick snack instead of enjoying a wholesome meal.

- Chicken fillet and vegetables
- Soy mince bolognese
- Turkey/chicken curry-either korma or tikka masala and rice

Basically, you can indulge in any food that you like as long as you keep it within reason. You need to keep both lunch and within 500-700calories. Breakfast should be around 300 to 500 calories so that it can be compensated by lunch and dinner. Switch up your snacks for nuts and raisins, veggie sticks and hummus instead of a bag of crisps or a chocolate bar.
Can a healthy sleep regime help you lose weight in 30 days?
Make sure you are getting enough sleep! The adult body needs at least 7-8hours or more a night. Understandably this isn’t possible for everyone to achieve but when you can sleep-do it! Getting as much rest as possible is a natural healer and if you’re sleeping, that means your body will be calm and content, hence you won’t be looking for energy through naughty snacks. If you’re looking to lose weight in 30 days by walking, listen up! It’s hard, but not impossible and certainly obtainable. If you aren’t a fan of the morning fitness routine, stick your headphones on or earphones in. Put your favourite song on and get out the door! You need to be doing over 20,000 steps a day to drop at least 2 dress sizes in 30 days. I personally did this and lost 12 kg (1 stone). I walked over 25,000 steps every single day, drank plenty of water- 3 or more litres a day precisely, and watched what I ate. Don’t give up! You’ve got this!

The key on how to lose weight is all in wanting to do it. It’s not impossible! Don’t give up! Kick that white bread to the kerb, exchange it for wraps, tortillas or brown flat bread! Don’t be tempted by all the chocolatey stuff, opt for a few nuts or 1/2 pieces of dark chocolate. Don’t over-indulge. That is the main key.
