Carving funny pumpkin faces – try these ideas!
If you have the desire and talent, you can carve really funny pumpkin faces directly into the pumpkin. And to look interesting, it doesn’t have to be something complicated. With the help of carving templates, for example, even beginners can easily conjure up cool faces in the pumpkin. Here are a few ideas of varying difficulty.
Unusual eyes for funny pumpkin faces
Cut funny mouths. You can add teeth or not. What makes these pumpkin carvings so funny are actually the eyes. Scoop them out and place inside, for example, white lids that you have previously drawn pupils on, or use mini decorative pumpkins instead. The crazier the look, the better! Or how about star anise for eyes and a mustache made from maple seeds and pumpkin stems for horns?

Artificial nails as teeth
You can use a variety of tools to create funny pumpkin faces. If, for example, carving teeth is too cumbersome, you can stick artificial nails into the edge of the cut-out mouth, as in this example. Of course it can be lopsided and crooked! You can also customize the shape of your mouth as you wish. The pupils of the eyes here are made of black sequins.
DIY funny pumpkin faces – a friendly look with a funny hairstyle
Carve a simple, smiling face (as in the example with only one tooth) and finish by adding lots of lollipops to serve as hair. To do this, simply poke the pumpkin with them. If that’s too difficult because the shell is hard, you can also pre-punch holes. The children can then take the lollipops with them on their Halloween tour.
Or how about this cool punk made from elongated lollipops for a mohawk? Wire can be used to make the piercings.

DIY pumpkin character from a cartoon movie
So it doesn’t always have to be scary. That’s why any cartoon characters are also very suitable. The characters from Frozen, for example, are very popular, but simpler options like Mickey Mouse are also great. The example shows an artificial pumpkin, but Mickey’s face can also be beautifully carved on a real one. The ears are particularly original: they are made of smaller gourds, for which you can either use artificial ones (just glue them) or small decorative pumpkins. Real pumpkins, for example, you can pin with kebab skewers.

Scrape funny pumpkin faces instead of carving them
A simpler alternative to carving is scraping. Here you just scrape off the upper, darker layer of the pumpkin to get the desired motif. There are special tool sets for carving pumpkins, which should contain a suitable tool. You can also draw the desired face on the surface beforehand to make scraping easier.
Three cool pumpkin face imitation ideas for beginners
For Count Dracula, choose an oblong pumpkin and carve out a mouth, eye sockets, and eyebrows. From the cut pulp, cut out two circles for the eyes and add pupils. The teeth can again be made of plastic nails or cardboard. It’s also interesting to make Dracula’s hood out of another pumpkin in a darker color.
A really fun and easy idea for funny pumpkin faces is also this one with the face mask, which you don’t even have to carve. Paint a circle with acrylic paint, leaving out the areas for the mouth and nose. Instead of eyes, use cucumber slices that you can pin with toothpicks, for example. A headscarf or alternatively a shower cap is also a great addition.
The third idea is also really original and funny. For this, the pumpkin is scooped out and the front part, i.e. the face, so to speak, is cut out (leave a few teeth if you like). Then you add any grimace to this face. Now comes the fun part: hang artificial eyeballs inside the pumpkin and lean the “fallen off” face against the pumpkin head so that it is also visible.
Add humorous elements to the pumpkin face
If you make the mouth a little larger, you can squeeze a small pumpkin or a tangerine in it, as if the pumpkin were about to bite. You can also form a large tongue from the shell and place it in your open mouth.
